Having lived most of my life next to the Blue Range Wilderness, I feel connected to my natural environment. Through my tapestries, I hope to convey a sense of the precious that is integral to the ecology of the landscape and to inspire the viewers’ sense of their relationship to the earth’s natural environments.

Fiber has unique physical responses to light and tactile qualities that I find irresistible. I weave with wool, alpaca, angora, mohair, cotton and silk fibers. I use dye plants from the forest and my garden to create natural dyes for my yarn palette of soft graduated hues. Through fiber, my love for the landscape has merged with my fascination with tapestry as an art form

Jane received her degree in Art from Western Washington University, Bellingham, Washington. Her tapestries and felt sculpture have been exhibited internationally and are in corporate and private collections.

Jane has been teaching tapestry, for over twenty years, privately and as adjunct faculty in higher education institutions. Currently, Jane is a mentoring teacher for ATA’s Distance Learning program. Jane and her husband live on their farm situated next to the Blue River on the Arizona/New Mexico border. Their Blue River Wilderness Retreat affords guest accommodations to individuals and groups for instruction in tapestry and natural dyeing.
