Tea Okropiridze’s Statement
I view art as a language uniquely suited to serve us in ways a verbal language cannot. My art is a creative act to express my feelings, using such media of art as Gobelin Tapestry. I am trying to show my world using natural resources such a wool, cotton, and silk; by combining three dimensional forms and transforming them into a decorative or abstract image. I create a two dimensional composition, rich with color and the texture of hand woven textiles. A work of art should make the viewer think. It should not tell the viewer what to think, but should help that person to start thinking in a new way. By creating tapestry I am showing what I’ve seen and found interesting and beautiful.
