Patricia Armour’s Statement

Patricia interprets the designs for her tapestries from photographs, drawings, paintings and prints which are put together as collages to reveal a narrative with a sense of light and atmosphere.  Inspired by the human form, ancient mythology, legend and the art of the Pre-Raphaelites, her tapestries are full of symbolism.  She hopes that viewers will read personal meaning into her works, discovering ideas or attributes for themselves.

Patricia expresses human emotions and experiences in her work and often uses the human face and images from nature to convey a contemplative, tranquility.  The result combines the authenticity of tradition with the vitality of contemporary life.
