“Uluru” by Irisa Blumate received an ATA Award for Excellence at the Tapestry 2008 conference in the exhibition The Tapestry Foundation of Victoria Award Exhibition displayed April 9 through May 3, 2008 at the Australian National University School of Art in Canberra.
I have a Master of Fine Arts degree from the Art Academy of Latvia in Riga. I work at the Art Academy. I am a member of the Association of Latvia Textile Artists and the Artists’ Union of Latvia.
In 1998 and 2008 I had personal exhibitions, on at the art gallery “Rudolf’s” and another at the Museum of Decorative Arts and Design. I have participated in different group exhibitions, international symposiums and seminars.
The most important exhibitions are in Latvia. There were also different international group exhibitions in Turkey, Italy, Poland, Germany, Finland, Norway, Czech Republic, Greece, Belgium and France.
My textile works are in the museums in Latvia, Russia, Poland; in collections in Finland, Sweden, Australia, Brazil, Germany, Israel, USA, and Turkey.
