Dorothy Clews: Should an antique tapestry fragment be regarded as a timeworn piece of art history, or is it something that can be re-evaluated and given a new association? In this series, tapestry becomes a metaphor for the intersections between existing land and imported cultures. The seams and needle weaving bind together the rich cultural history of the tapestry fragments with the stark textured ridges of the contemporary Australian landscape, whether cultural or actual.
