TSA’s 12th Biennial Symposium

Textile artists, scholars and curators from around the world gathered in Lincoln, Nebraska in 2010 for the Textile Society of America’s Biennial Symposium. The symposium included lectures, tours, hands on workshops and textile exhibitions featuring a wide variety of inspiring work. ATA was very fortunate to have ATB 8 selected as one of the cornerstone exhibitions of the symposium. Our premiere show, which featured the work of 58 artists from around the world was showcased during the Gallery Crawl, at a Site Seminar and during Friends of Fiberart International’s Sunday tour.

Many ATA members registered for the symposium and others came to explore the rich and diverse array of exhibitions, and to celebrate the opening of ATB 8 at the Elder Gallery on the Nebraska Wesleyan University campus. Exhibition Chairs, Susan Iverson and Michael Rohde introduced the large group assembled for the opening to ATA, to ATB, to our esteemed juror, Rebecca A.T. Stevens, Consulting Curator of Contemporary Textiles at The Textile Museum, and to the many exhibiting artists who were in attendance. Conversation was lively and many people were acquainted, that evening, to the vibrant field of contemporary tapestry
