Urszula Plewka-Schmidt, “Circle,” 1975, 7th Lausanne Biennial

Working with fiber processes including knit, crochet, installation and performance, Plewka-Schmidt in this piece wrapped large metal forms, giving them the texture of having recently plowed many fields. At the same, time she continued to work with imagery in tapestry. She is considered a co-founder of the Polish school of tapestry (see Wikipedia, accessed May 1, 2016).
